New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Very few Android OEMs have their entire product portfolio running latest version of Android, i.e. Android 9.0 Pie at this moment. We should exclude Essential as Essential Phone (PH-1) is the only phone they ever produced till date. PH-2… hold your horses!
Companies like OnePlus and Nokia (except Nokia 2) successfully provided Android Pie OTA to their legacy but currently supported phones. Realme is another exceptional candidate in the list, especially judging its background – as OPPO (Realme’s origin) is notorious for delaying software updates.
Be it their first phone (Realme 1) or the most entry level device (Realme C1), the sweet taste of Pie is available for every Realme phone. The selfie centric Realme U1 got a similar treatment as well.
Debuted at the end of November 2018, Realme U1 was one of the first phones to feature MediaTek Helio P70 SoC. Coupled with the AI infused 12 nm octacore platform, the 25 MP Sony IMX576 front camera sensor makes a surprisingly good combo.
The Pie update for Realme U1 was carrying the tag of RMX1831EX_11_A.10 (although some got A.09 as well). The list of changes were pretty huge, as Realme included the long-anticipated theme store, riding mode, new UI and tons of other features with May 2019 security patch.
Following the recent trend as seen on Realme C2 and Realme 3 Pro, the Chinese OEM is rolling out a new update to random Realme U1 units in India. The version number has been bumped from A.10 to A.12; similar to the increment we noticed earlier for the aforementioned phones.
On the other hand, the security patch level remains unchanged (still on May). This is a striking difference from Realme 3 Pro, as the phone got July patch in its latest OTA.
The theme of the changelog is purely stability and bugfix oriented. It could be possible that Realme is pushing this new update as a supplementary package on top of the major Pie update, although there is no official words so far.

As always, the update is being distributed in stages. Realme U1 owners, we are sorry to inform you that the full update package is not available yet. Once the OTA rollout is wider, the link would be shared by us.
Update (August 1)
