What is Google’s Android One Program
Android One is a near-stock version of the Android operating system released by Google. Android One cannot be altered by the companies that make the phones, and only runs on certain smartphones. The program promises regular security updates for three years, and Android OS updates for two years.
Android One was started by Google in 2014, focusing on entry-level devices for emerging markets, though it has evolved into including mid-range and high-end smartphones. Currently, Android One runs on devices like Motorola One Vision, Nokia 9 Pure View, Nokia 4.2, Xiaomi Mi A2, Infinix Note 5, etc
About Mi A1
At first glance, the device resembles OnePlus 5, especially due to the placement of the dual rear camera and the antennas running along the top and bottom edges of the device. The back houses a circular fingerprint at the center, MI branding at the bottom and LED flash on the top corner.
The device came with Stock Android Nougat 7.1.2 out of the box. A refreshing change as Xiaomi, till now had its own MIUI. The stock Android ensures that there is no bloatware and ensures smooth performance with regular OS updates. Since launch, it has received Android 8.0 Oreo and Android 9.0 Pie.
The phone packs a dual-camera setup at the rear, consisting of a primary 12MP Sony IMX486 sensor acting as its main sensor having a ƒ/1.75 aperture and 1.25-micron pixels. The 12MP Sony IMX376 sensor acts as a secondary camera having a ƒ/1.75 aperture. The selfie camera is a 20 MP Sony IMX376 sensor having a ƒ/2.2 aperture.
Currently, the device is running on Android 9.0 Pie. We hope that Xiaomi comes out regularly with future security updates to keep the device secure and stable. We will keep you posted as soon as Xiaomi comes out with any future updates on Mi A1.
