Huawei recently changed their smartphone update policy introducing monthly & quarterly security patch programmes, wherein some phones will receive updates on monthly basis, while others on quarterly basis. As per the list, one such device that will be updated on quarterly basis is Honor Play.

Honor Play is the OEM’s 2018 high-end device powered by Hisilicon Kirin 970. The phone came with Android 8.1 (Oreo) layered with EMUI 8.2 and was upgraded to Android Pie-based EMUI 9.0 in the beginning of this year.

While the device owners are expecting the latest EMUI 9.1, the phone recently got the June update instead, which bumped the version to 9.0.0.193. As per the company’s new EMUI update policy, Honor Play is expected to receive security updates on quarterly basis. Meaning, next update should be coming in September now.

But looks like the OEM doesn’t want users to wait for another couple months, and plans to push EMUI 9.1 to Honor Play devices soon. Reason being, the update is now up on the Firmware Finder. As per the information shared by a user, the update may bear build number 9.1.0.330 (sized ~3.6GB).

And now, it awaits EMUI 9.1. Just like Honor Play, EMUI 9.1 update for Honor View 10 is also available on the Firmware Finder now. This information comes from a Redditor, according to whom the update is can be seen at least for the US region devices.

View 10 is currently running the June security patch bearing build number 9.0.0.237, and the new update (weighing 3.7GB) will bump the version to 9.1.0.326.
