The dedicated camera night mode in Samsung Galaxy S10 is perhaps the most demanded feature in the history of the lineup so far. The Korean OEM did bring the functionality on global models, but users with Snapdragon variants had to wait longer.
Now there is a catch! The Snapdragon 855 powered Galaxy S10 units are targeted towards China, Hong Kong, Canada and the USA. They do come with different camera sensors than the international Exynos units, which could be the reason behind delayed night mode update.
Talking about the US models, the June update got leaked merely days before the official rollout. Turned out, T-Mobile eventually rolled out the same build as the leaked one (ASF7), but there was nothing like a night mode in stock camera in that update.
And here comes the mess! Both Verizon and AT&T decided to push another build (ASF6 – older than T-Mobile’s ASF7) after a few days. Guess what? This build does contain an updated stock camera app with the long-awaited night mode on board!
Now the only US carrier branded Galaxy S10 without the night mode feature is the Sprint variant.
Unfortunately the CDMA carrier used to distribute OTAs in a different numbering scheme due to the atrocious LTE/data connection issue with the S10 lineup, and existing carrier builds are not compatible with them. There is no announcement from the carrier as well.
Regarding the Canadian Galaxy S10 units, July 8 is the date you should mark on your calendar. Major cellular carriers, such as Rogers, Telus and Fido have updated their update tracking pages and all of them have confirmed the arrival of the June update for Galaxy S10e/S10/S10+.
Hopefully this time the Canadian units are going to get the camera night mode feature like most of the Snapdragon variants. To T-Mobile and Sprint users, we really don’t have the slightest idea what’s going on with you two! Guess you need to wait for one more month.
