LineageOS (formerly CyanogenMod) is the go-to destination for Android custom ROM enthusiasts. Although we do have a huge list of ROMs available, the stability and essential-cum-useful feature set make LineageOS (LOS) a fantastic choice for beginners in the development scene.

There are some mandatory prerequisites to have a properly working LineageOS for your phone, and looks like Realme 3 Pro is ticking most of them. FYI, the company officially shared the bootloader unlock tool and published kernel source codes at the end of May.

While plenty of developers (and wanna-be-developers) started to tinker with the phone, end users are looking for a working version of LineageOS. Someone on XDA did compile an unofficial build, but VoLTE (perhaps the most-sought feature!) was not working there.

Worry not, as Samar Vispute aka SamarV-121 has managed to create a well-polished version of LineageOS 16.0 (based on Android 9.0 Pie) for Realme 3 Pro. Besides the fingerprint sensor, every major component are working.

The changelog of the recent most build (published on July 1) is as follows:

2019-07-01 (latest)

– Added OTA support

– Fixed Bluetooth media

– Fixed OTG

– Enabled proximity check on wake

– Updated vibration pattern from Pixel 2

For Indian Realme 3 Pro owners, VoLTE using Jio does work in this build! Samar also merged various cellular radio related fixes that should resolve LTE signal dropping issues and improve power saving.

Installation procedure is rather simple: you need to use the official bootloader unlock tool to unlock the bootloader of your Realme 3 Pro. Next you need to install TWRP, which is officially maintained by the same person.

Afterwards you need to format data partition (don’t wipe it) and wipe cache and system. Afterwards install the LineageOS package, followed by Google Apps (choose ARM64/9.0).

Samar is known for his previous contributions in the Realme developer scene, and LineageOS 16.0 for Realme 3 Pro is yet another feather in his cap. The download link can be found here, while the Telegram support group is here.

Remember that there is no official XDA thread for this release, as Samar decided to publish his work via his own website. The one you can find is not supported by the dev, so join the Telegram group for submitting bug reports and discussions.
