Xiaomi recruiting testers for Poco F1 Android Q based MIUI update

Remember when Redmi K20 Pro (or should I say Mi 9T Pro?) got the taste of Android Q beta right after official release? Mi 9 and Mi MIX 3 5G were included in the beta testing roster of Android Q from the beginning, and the common underlying platform (Snapdragon 855) helped K20 Pro to take part in the listing.

But what about the older phones? The first gen Google Pixels from 2016 (based on Snapdragon 821 SoC) and the Essential Phone (powered by Snapdragon 835) are few of the legacy flagships who are part of the Android Q beta testing squad.

In case of OnePlus, they were able to push 2018’s OnePlus 6/6T as the compatible device for Android Q public beta. They even promised to bring the Q update for 2017’s OnePlus 5/5T. Is Xiaomi going to abandon some of their phones such as Pocophone F1, as they are slowing down the pace of updates?

Worry not, as Pocophone F1 is going to get Android Q real soon. Xiaomi is now looking for volunteers to test Android Q based MIUI for Poco F1, as they are closing down the regular MIUI public beta channel on and from July 1.

The basic criteria of applying for this pre-release testing phase are as follows:

– Should have Unlocked Bootloader
– The version is unstable. Please backup important data to cloud service or computer local before upgrading.
– Leaking Nightly Rom Links and package is strictly prohibited and user will be banned from beta team and his account will be banned
– Must be using latest MIUI Global Stable ROM
– Knowing well about Mi flash tool and willing to cooperate with developers to investigate the problem
– Must be active on the other countries community
– Willing to discuss with other members in QQ group
– Have the self-rescue ability of a certain flash failure, willing to bear the risk of upgrade failure

While the moderators and resources/app review/beta/device/techie/fan site/designer/photography/bug hunter team members of Mi forum and/or community are already entitled, regular users need to supply the following info for registration:

• Community user name
• Name
• Community MI account no.
• QQ number
• Device
• Experience
• Region
• Reason for applying
• Screenshot of About phone

Besides the Android Q update for Pocophone F1, Xiaomi is also preparing the stable Android Pie update for Mi 6, Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A. Users having these phones are eligible to apply for testing the pre-release global stable builds of MIUI.

Just like the closed beta testing of OnePlus, there are various privileges coupled with responsibilities in this testing procedure. Testers will have the opportunity to communicate with MIUI officials and receive gifts for their contributions, but the following set of rules must be followed.
