From announcing the official list of phones that may get Android Q to a purported list of Huawei devices that will be upgraded to EMUI 9 or 9.1, new information is surfacing every other day since the Chinese tech giant Huawei’s ban was announced by the US government.

In between all this turmoil, the OEM is vigorously delivering firmware updates (both Android OS and regular monthly security patches) to the promised devices. In fact, they plan to reach out to more devices during the three months extension they’ve been granted by the US.

While Huawei P20 Lite, Y9 (2019), Mate 20 Lite, P Smart, Honor 9N, and Honor 9 Lite have been bumped to Android 9.0 Pie-based EMUI 9 or 9.1, other phones like Honor Play, View 20, View 10, Honor 8X, and Huawei Mate 20 have received their monthly patches lately.

And now the list appears to be expanding further, as Huawei has pushed a new monthly patch to Honor 10 Lite. For refresher, it’s the company’s 2018 mid-ranger device fueled with Hisilicon Kirin 710 SoC. The phone shipped with Android 9.0 Pie layered with the OEM’s customized skin EMUI 9.0.

The currently rolling out monthly security update (sized 100MB) bears build number 9.0.1.186 (C675E13R1P12) and brings along the June security patch. Going by reports, the update is limited only to the Indian variants of Honor 10 Lite.

As already mentioned above, since inception Honor 10 Lite embraces EMUI 9.0. And going by the list of devices to be upgraded to EMUI 9.1, Honor 10 Lite wasn’t mentioned in the list. But device users continue inquiring whether their phone will be upgraded to the latest EMUI 9.1.

While reverting back to one such users, Honor UK recently said EMUI 9.1 (looks like they did a typo and mentioned Android 9.1 instead of EMUI 9.1) is planned to be released for flagship devices only. Rest of the update compatible Huawei phones will only get EMUI 9/Android Pie.

That clarifies things. Just in case you were expecting EMUI 9.1 on your Honor 10 Lite unit, going by what Huawei UK has shared, the company doesn’t plan to release it at least until now. Sad but that’s how it currently stands.
