New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Xiaomi is known for updating their in-house skin, MIUI, for a long period of time. While the base Android version seldom receives updates, the Chinese OEM regularly brings new features and fixes to the upper layer.

They also maintain an open beta initiative for their phones to test out the bleeding edge changes before finalization. However, they are going to close it down after July 1 for the sake of releasing more frequent stable updates.

Poco F1, the sensational device from the Pocophone (an offspring of Xiaomi), started its journey with MIUI 9.6 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. The company rolled out periodic updates for the phone, and the recent most MIUI 10.3.5.0 OTA was released a few days ago.

As a matter of fact, the time difference between the last two stable channel updates is roughly two months. Despite being released in June, Xiaomi included one month old security patch in the latest MIUI build for Pocophone F1.

The dreaded touch related issues are still bugging the Poco users, even after the latest update. Seems that Xiaomi engineers are clueless to address the actual fault and playing with random fixes in every update.

Just updated to this version and still having half of my screen with no touch response at all while lying on a flat surface. When is this going to be fully fixed? It was fixed in 9.6.25 and 10.0.4. Approach this issue, please.

Having ghost touch issues, specially when the phone is lying on a flat surface. Sometimes goes back (pages, apps) randomly… kinda frustrating. I was on 10.2, before update. More screen issues than it unfortunately. Love the dark mode!

The long-running problem of in-call echo and noise in Poco F1 is another reason of frustration for Pocophone owners. However, the company was aware of the situation. The latest MIUI weekly beta update (9.6.13) in June reportedly fixed the bug.

Moreover, this particular fix made its way to the stable channel as well. Alvin Tse, the head of Pocophone global, has confirmed the fact via Twitter.

Judging from the reports, Xiaomi prefers to mix-and-match various tweaks related to the touch optimizations in the beta channel. The all-winning combination has not been found yet, thus they don’t include those changes in the stable updates for now.

Update (June 24)

Poco F1 received MIUI 10.3.5.0 OTA last week as a monthly update of June. However, the update is temporarily pulled back due to low speaker volume bug. See here for more info.
