Guess you are accustomed with those yellow faces with various emotions. Yes, I’m talking about the emojis! They are not limited to a bunch of faces nowadays – you can even create your own set of animated emojis (known as animoji).

Apart from animoji, several other implementations are out in the wild. For example, Samsung has the ‘My Emoji Sticker‘ option integrated in their Camera app.

When you’re ready to see the cartoon version of yourself, open the Camera app and then swipe to AR Emoji. Tap Create My Emoji, and then, if needed, tap Allow. Follow the on-screen instructions, and when you’re ready, tap Capture. Tap your desired body type, and then tap Next. Meet your very own emoji.

Well, things are getting complicated when Samsung Galaxy S10 users have started to get the app popped up out of the blue. Allegedly the app appears in their app drawer out of nowhere.

Went to bed last night. Woke up to the galaxy store had installed the my emoji app. There’s no way to uninstall or disable it.

@SamsungMobile hey, I’ve just found out that some new app had been installed on my 909 eur worth phone automatically without asking me. App with permissions to my personal files. App called My Emoji Stickers. Isn’t it is GDPR violation by you?

FYI, Samsung is not silently installing yet another tracking app on your Galaxy S10. As described earlier, the app is part of the Samsung Camera app can be invoked via Samsung Keyboard.

It isnt a new app. It was initially in the samsung keyboard’s stickers column but after a new update this app appeared on the app drawer

We decided to dig a little and found that Samsung rolled out a new update of the app (package name: com.sec.android.mimage.avatarstickers) via their own app store (Galaxy Store). The version number of the new update is 2.6.25.12, which can be downloaded from APKMirror.

Looks like the newest update of the app (un)intentionally enables the app icon. Using third party launchers, it is possible to hide the particular app if you find it uncomfortable. Uninstalling the update will revert it back to factory version and remove the icon, but you will miss out new features.

How often do you use the emoji stickers on your Galaxy S10?
