There are new updates that have been added to the bottom of the story…
Back in March, HTC shared the company’s plan to release Android 9.0 Pie for HTC U12+, U11+ and U11 in Q2 of this year. Then a couple of months later, they gave a clear picture stating Pie will make way to U11 devices in late May, followed by U12+ in mid-June and U11+ near June end.
With a slight delay, the Taiwanese OEM managed to deliver Pie to HTC U11, just last week. It’s a 2017 high-end device, powered by Snapdragon 835. The phone originally shipped with Android 7.1 Nougat layered with HTC’s skin SenSe UI and was upgraded to Oreo in the launch year itself.
Pie update (v3.22.709.2) on HTC U11 brought along system enhancements and confirmed the removal of Google+ from BlinkFeed, as the service has been terminated.
Soon after the update was rolled out, the update was suspended due to bugs, however it got live again in a day’s time. But as far as we can see, user still continue complaining about not receiving the update.
Anyway, coming to HTC U12+, just like other HTC users they are also gawking Pie’s arrival. While the company promised to deliver Pie on HTC U12+ phones in the mid of June, they have provided a minor system performance improvement candy instead.
A new update bearing build number 1.68.709.7 is now rolling out for HTC U12+ units (at least in Taiwan). For those of you who wish to take a look, here’s what the official announcement reads:
Don’t worry, we are keeping a continuous eye on Pie’s arrival on HTC 12+ and HTC 11+, and we’ll keep you informed as and when the updates get live.
Update (June 20)
HTC flagships, like U11, U11+ & U12+, have not received stable Android Pie update yet. Now the company confirmed that the OTA would be delayed by months. Details here.
