New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Providing carrier specific changes (such as network bug fix or VoLTE support) via software update is a common scenario in unlocked smartphones. As they are not sold exclusively via a single wireless carrier, the phone maker is responsible to address the issues and patch them properly.
On the other hand, the carrier branded models usually get the updates via the wireless carrier itself. These OTA updates are mostly delayed compared to their unlocked counterparts, and often found inferior in terms of software based features.
Take the example of the Samsung Galaxy S10 lineup: while the global unlocked units received the much-anticipated camera night mode feature back in April, the carrier branded US models are yet to receive the same.
Talking about T-Mobile, the US carrier is finally pushing a new update for the OnePlus 7 Pro. The build number has been bumped from 9.5.5 to 9.5.6 (with GM31CB as the build tag). The OTA weighs about 104 MB.
As readers can see, the changelog mentions nothing but the April security update. Judging from the size of the update, we can easily speculate that the camera related improvements are not part of this build.
It is worth mentioning that T-Mobile variant of OxygenOS does not feature a ‘Local Upgrade’ method, thus users can’t apply the update manually. Nevertheless, here is the download link of the incremental update zip:

Meanwhile, OnePlus staff member Abdulbasithmh (part of OnePlus Bug Hunter team) listed the following known bugs in the global and European variants of OnePlus 7 Pro:
1. Ghost Touch Issue on 3rd party Applications
2. battery drain and Heating issue
3. selfie camera pops up while getting an incoming video call, the camera pops up even if the Device is the pocket
4. MMS messaging not working with Inland Cellular(carrier) on my One Plus 7 Pro.
5. An issue with Incoming calls for the users using Verizon Network: Unable to accept incoming calls from Verizon iPhones.
6. Ghost Touch Issue on CPU-Z Applications
Besides these issues, the team also acknowledged the double tap to wake and ambient display related glitches. The recent most update (9.5.4 for global, 9.5.5 for EU) should address both of them, along with some additional fixes.
However, the fifth entry in the list, i.e. Verizon calling issue has been bugging US OnePlus 7 Pro users since the inception. The CDMA based carrier officially supports the OnePlus 7 Pro via their ‘CDMA-less’ infrastructure, which is not playing well.
Is anyone else having this issue? I am on Verizon, and when I receive an inbound call from another person on Verizon, the call drops. If I call back, the call goes through and we can speak just fine. Inbound calls from non-Verizon numbers go through just fine when I answer them.
I’ve had the CDMA-less feature provisioned on my line, not sure what else to look for.

A user named Danielle Miller (millerd79 in OnePlus forums) contacted OnePlus support regarding the issue. As a matter of fact, he got the assurance that an upcoming update would be rolled soon to fix the issue. Moreover, he received the initial build for testing.
millerd79 has shared the download link of the test build which is carrying the version number of 9.5.6.GM21AA. After flashing, a lot of affected users (including millerd79) have noticed the effectiveness – the bug has been fixed!

According to Bobby D. (part of OnePlus Bug Hunter team), the OEM will start an incremental rollout of the build from today (May 28) which should be limited to the US unlocked models (GM1917). Nonetheless, we have successfully flashed it on our Indian (GM1911) unit without any hiccup.
There is no official announcement regarding this build at the time of reporting. Rest assured, we will present you the official OTA link after it goes public. FYI, the test build was compiled on May 25; whereas the recent most build (9.5.4.GM21AA) was prepared on May 23.
Have you faced the aforementioned call issues on Verizon with your OnePlus 7 Pro? Wait for the new bugfix update to hit your phone.
