Few days back, Taiwanese OEM Asus rolled out the May Security update (16.2017.1905.053) on ZenFone Max Pro M1 (ZB602KL/ZB601KL) devices. The update basically brought along Android 9.0 Pie on the global variants of Max Pro M1 units (which the Indian models received beck in April).
In addition, the update also fixed PUBG HD graphics issue and call waiting problem, brought back the Night Light (or Night mode) feature and enabled screenshot option in the power menu.
And now Asus is pushing the May security update to Max Pro M1’s newer kin ZenFone Max Pro M2 units. For a quick refresher, ZenFone Max Pro M2 is ASUS’ 2018 mid range smartphone that shipped with Snapdragon 660 SoC and Android Oreo (8.1) out of the box.
Just last month, ZenFone Max Pro M2 received Android Pie, which triggered so many issues that it has to be pulled with in a week’s time from its release. However, a few days later, a new update was rolled out after fixing a major issue, though other problems were reportedly left unentertained.
Cut to now. The currently rolling out Max Pro M2’s May update – bearing build number 16.2017.1905.65 (weighs 73MB) – brings fixes for a couple of issues.
Firstly, Dark mode that went missing from app drawer, pull down quick setting and long press on power key is back. Secondly, the icon overlapping issue has been taken care of. Here’s what the complete changelog reads:
【Release Note】
1. Upgrade April, May security patch
2. Fix Dark mode missing on: app drawer, pull down quick setting, long press on power key.
3. Fix Overlapping observed on RSSI bar with Roaming Symbol and PDP Icon.
Other than the changes mentioned in the official changelog, users report a screenshot option has also been added to the power button menu (that shows up on long pressing). Here’s a user shared image of the option:
Like always, the FOTA update will be rolled out in batches, and hence may take time to make it to all devices. So either keep patience or download the update manually.
