Bug report collection and analysis are some essential parts of software engineering. Demand of new features from end users will never be stopped, but convincing them for methodical bug reporting is a hectic job. Fortunately, OnePlus is planning to tackle the situation.
Having a large user community is helpful for the Shenzhen based OEM to conduct multiple layers of closed and open beta testing of their in-house Android skin (OxygenOS and HydrogenOS) before rolling out major updates. As an addon, they have unveiled a new Feedback tool.
With the introduction of the feedback tool, log capturing is automated. You no longer need to manually capture logs or wait for a bug hunter to share instructions on what logs need to be captured. Depending on the type of bug, the feedback tool automatically captures the required logs.
OnePlus 6/6T users should remember that they got the early glimpses of this feedback app as a part of the recent most OxygenOS (stable) update, which also brought March 2019 security patch level.
The release of a dedicated feedback tool is part of a way bigger strategy. OnePlus is redesigning their Community app which comes preinstalled with global variants. Integration of the feedback tool with core system will ensure easy bug reporting by the community members.
With the feedback tool, you can submit
– Bug reports for issues encountered in OxygenOS (bug reports should contain logs, screenshots with time stamps and the detailed issue description)
– Product ideas for new features in OxygenOS
– Improvements, suggestions for existing features in OxygenOS
According to Manu J., Global Product Operations Manager of OnePlus, the new feedback tool will be rolled out as a part of future OTA updates for OnePlus 5/5T and 3/3T. He has also shared a short video tutorial to describe the workflow of the app.
At this moment, it is evident that the upcoming OnePlus 7 series of phones will feature the redesigned community and feedback tool right from the beginning. In fact, a new branch of OxygenOS (OOS 9.5) was spotted earlier in various leaks regarding OnePlus 7 (Pro).
Now, a particular variant of OnePlus 7 Pro with the model number GM1913 has surfaced on the website of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (Thailand).
Matter of fact, leakster Ishan Agarwal informed the OnePlus community about the existence of this variant a couple of days ago. He also described the model numbers of the 5G variant, which should be based on the Pro model itself.
In recent past, some publications intentionally distributed wrong info about the 5G compatibility of the OnePlus 7 Pro model. Staff member David Y. took the opportunity and clarified the situation:
Most countries/carriers are not ready for the commercialization of 5G, so no point to add up a cost that irrelevant to most of our users at this point. Our first 5G product is built for those who are eager to embrace the future.

Countries like Finland and UK are going to get the 5G model due to the presence of consumer grade 5G networks and carrier partnership.
Anyway, we know that the Pro model will sport a triple rear camera setup – courtesy to the leakers. OnePlus eventually confirmed the same in their latest teaser:
The catcline, “Bells and whistles make noise. We make phones”, is certainly fascinating. While OnePlus loves to make phones, someone out there prefers to break them. Yes, we are talking about none other than Zack Nelson aka JerryRigEverything!
Like last year, Zack will attend the NYC launch party on May 14. Guess what – he is going to do a live teardown there!
May 14 might be the date when T-Mobile USA will start selling the carrier branded OnePlus 7 models in the USA – as hinted by Ishan.
May 14th- #OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro Launch. T-Mobile may start selling the factory locked version on the same day.
Around May 18th- Pop-Up Events for the #OnePlus7Series (at least in India)
May 22nd- The new phones would become available for purchase.

There is a little chance that other wireless carriers will sell the OnePlus 7, especially the 5G variant, in the USA, but take the proposition with a slight pinch of salt.
