OnePlus News Daily Dose #53: OnePlus 7 Pro leaked, QHD+ display, 5G Talk and more!

The clock is ticking, and the OnePlus fans are enjoying a mad and wild adrenaline rush. With less than a month left before the launch of OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro (well, we are kinda sure about the naming scheme, aren’t we?), leaks are springing up like mushrooms.

Veteran leaksters Steve H.McFly (popularly known as @OnLeaks) and Ishan Agarwal are holding the pole position in terms of leaking reliable info regarding the upcoming 2019 lineup of phones from the Chinese OEM.

After unveiling a truckload of high quality renders as well as 360 degree videos for both regular OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro, OnLeaks has decided to share the launch date and camera configs of these phones.

In terms of screen size, the base model will sport a 6.4 inches flat display with a waterdrop notch – almost equivalent to the OnePlus 6T. I won’t be surprised if they use the same display panel in OnePlus 7.

The Pro variant, on the other hand, should feature a 6.64 inches curved display without any notch or punch hole, as OnePlus decided to opt for popup selfie camera with this model.

The primary camera module should be a 48 MP one in both of them, although the exact model of the sensor is unknown. The choice is limited to Sony’s IMX586 or Samsung’s ISOCELL Bright GM1 at this moment, and OnePlus prefers Sony’s sensor anyway.

The suggested launch date (May 14) is inline with the previous leak from Ishan.

In a recent tweet, the young leaker has confirmed that the launch event will be simultaneously held at New York, UK and Bangalore on 14th May.

Ishan has collaborated with Android Central to disclose a bunch of new facts about the OnePlus 7 lineup.

OnePlus used to provide 1080p panels since the inception of the brand, thus the jump to a QHD+ panel is going to be a game changer for the Pro variant. The 90 Hz refresh rate is another killer feature as it’ll surely help OnePlus to combat against OEMs like Razer.

The phone will also see an upgraded USB controller revision – from the dated 2.0 to modern age 3.1. The regular model may stick with USB 2.0 (just like OnePlus 6T) for cutting the cost factors.

The battery capacity is hinted as 4,000 mAh, which is 8% bigger than its predecessor. The fast charging tech aka OnePlus’ proprietary WARP Charge should be clocked at 30W, i.e. same as OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition.

It may be possible that OnePlus uses the basic 5V/4A (20W) WARP Charge on the regular OnePlus 7 model to justify the premiumness of the Pro variant.

While the company is preparing for the big launch, they are also organising the second Open Ears forum in India.

The event will take place on May 8 at Goa, with community development as the primary theme.
