After issues, Samsung Galaxy S10 $50 credit now available via replacement promo code

Another year, another flagship Galaxy phone from Samsung. 2019 is the 10th anniversary of the iconic Galaxy S series and oh boy! Samsung has already stolen the show with bunch of innovative goodies in Galaxy S10.

It is customary for Samsung to offer deals and savings for early adopters. This year is no exception as the South Korean OEM has announced a $50 credit on accessories for early reservation in the US.

However, getting the credit is not as ‘instant’ as it sounds for numerous users. Samsung has done multiple internal changes in the credit mechanism which create confusions among end users as well as Samsung support providers.

Initially, the users were notified with an email after reserving the phone. That email contains a link to pre-order the phone and accessories.

If an order was initiated using the link from the email and an accessory was added alongside, the users would get a full $50 coupon code applied to the whole order.

Customers tended to overlook the popup after the phone was added to the cart, thus missing the deal.

You blew it…. Like me No seriously, it was there when you checked out. That popup accessories screen during checkout? There was fine print at the top that said $50 would be deducted in your cart once you add an acc over $50. I totally missed it, and in order to claim the credit, you have to cancel and start over, most likely extending out your ship date.

I have the answer. When you work your way through the preorder, you eventually reach a point where you Click the Button labeled Preorder. Don’t worry there are steps remaining. Click the preorder button and you will see a breakdown of the price, items (earbuds, S10, etc), discounts (tradein, -50, 150 (earbuds), etc).

Even after following the path, many others failed to redeem it properly.

Contacting with official customer support was really not fruitful, as they could not resolve the glitches.

I have done that already and they said the best they can do is cancel my accessory order and give me a $50 credit in my email. She said that it may be possible that it is a glitch, but she was not sure. I still have not received a courtesy $50 credit in my email and I called first thing this morning.

On the other hand, a couple of users were prohibited to use the credit on certain accessories.

The credit doesn’t work when also purchasing premium care and enrolling in Samsung Upgrade. If I have a phone case in my cart I get the following error: You have chosen to enroll in Samsung Upgrade. This item does not qualify for the program.Please remove this item from your cart, or it will be removed automatically if you continue with Samsung Upgrade. I have contacted support and they are seeing what they can do.

Samsung has tried to fix this already clumsy scenario by re-sending emails to their customers with a code to redeem the credit.

However, the revamped process seemed to be incremental. Emails were reaching a small percentage of users first, and a broader rollout later.

FYI, only phone cases and chargers are reportedly considered as valid accessories for this coupon code.

Students can get a flat 10% discount using a valid .edu email address. You may avail another $25 dollar promo card if you’re lucky.
