OnePlus News Daily Dose #19: OnePlus 7 leaked renders, real life hands-on, popup camera and more!

Daily dose followers, remember when OnePlus CEO Pete Lau talked with CNET during MWC? He was sceptical about recent trend of foldable phones.

Lau also turned down wireless charging feature in favor of superior wired (‘Warp Charge’) solution for upcoming OnePlus 7. He was supposedly carrying a prototype of it, but refused to show it to the correspondent.

Well, better late than never! Courtesy to eminent leakster Steve H.McFly aka @OnLeaks, we now have our hands on a number of high quality CAD renders as well as a 360 degree view.

Pricebaba Daily, a partner site of 91Mobiles, has collaborated with OnLeaks for this grand leak.

The first thing that attracts our attention is the popup selfie camera. While a motorized slider like Mi MIX 3 was rumored earlier, OnePlus allegedly opts for a design with popup – muck like OPPO F11 Pro.

The positioning is little bit weird but distinctive, as it is not properly centered.

Without any kind of notch or punch hole display, the screen-to-body ratio is surprisingly massive – greater than 95% of the surface. According to Pricebaba, the size of the display is expected to be 6.5″, although the display resolution is unknown.

OnePlus may once again sticking to FHD+ with OnePlus 7. The expected physical dimensions are 162.6 x 76 x 8.8 mm, with the thickest point (rear camera bump) being 9.7 mm thick.

Like OnePlus 6T, OnePlus will again opt for an in-display fingerprint sensor. Qualcomm has already launched their ultrasonic fingerprint tech with Samsung Galaxy S10, which can also be adapted by OnePlus instead of the optical sensor.

Following the recent trend, there are three camera sensors in the back. A USB Type-C port and a mono loudspeaker grille can be seen at the bottom of the phone. The familiar alert slider is placed on the right with the power button. Sadly the 3.5 mm headphone jack fails to return.

TBH, that’s just the beginning!

A live image of OnePlus 7 has surfaced on Weibo today, which has been taken down instantly. Twitter user @Jacky_Tech was fast enough to capture it anyway. ?

The purported image is fairly inline with the earlier leak by OnLeaks. We should expect some futuristic automation with the popup camera for face-unlocking.

Talking about cameras, long-time OnePlus collaborator Giacomo Mantovani released a short film called Lightning which was shot entirely on OnePlus 5T.

Featuring beautiful angles and frames, the film follows the journey of a deaf girl and an underground musician.

Meanwhile, OnePlus website maintainers have committed a funny but critical mistake. In their ‘Software Upgrade’ section, latest Open Beta build descriptions for OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T contain wrong info.

It is stated that they contain February 2019 security patches, while we all know the truth! We have already notified them via Twitter.
