Worry not. The server outage was planned in order to conduct maintenance/renovation. As stated by the company, today the server will be out from 2 AM and 6 AM EST. Meanwhile, the ecobee thermostats will continue to work as expected, but the app, web portal and third party apps may not be available during the above-stated period of time. Also, Geofencing will not be available.
The Canadian home automation (thermostat making) company took to Reddit to inform their users about this pre-planned server outage.
While reverting back to one of the users, ecobee also mentioned that there will be a gap in data, that will be taken care of.
