In the wake of Tumblr’s recent big announcement that it’s banning all adult/explicit/NSFW content on its platform (save for few exceptions), PiunikaWeb was one of the very first publications that brought you a list of Tumblr alternatives.

In that coverage, we highlighted how services like Newgrounds and Pillowfort are overtly trying to court Tumblr users who are planning to leave the platform due to the recent change. In fact, Newgrounds says a lot of Tumblr users have already joined them.

Apart from these two, we have now stumbled upon a third platform which is trying to make out the most from the current Tumblr situation. It’s called Ghost.

This is what the official Ghost website currently has written on top of its page comparing Ghost to Tumblr. The company explains post the adult content ban announcement from Tumblr, a lot of users are vising their website, so they thought of updating it with relevant info.

The page refers to Mastodon as the correct choice for those looking for Tumblr-like social network.

It’s a completely decentralized social network which combines the best bits of Twitter and Tumblr, but the technology is structured in a way whereby it can never be shut down. It’s also completely ad-free, and doesn’t censor any content. You can join an existing Mastodon community or start a new one

Ghost, on the other hand, is for those who have a publication with a large audience, and they want professional software hosted on their own domain.

Ghost is a completely independent platform which gives you control of the technology, the content and the audience – so nobody can shut you down

I know most of the people migrating from Tumblr are those who are NSFW or adult content creators. So the question is, is Ghost for them? Well, we tried to find some information relevant to this, and here’s what we spotted in the company’s Terms of Services:
