[5.1.8 rolls out] OnePlus 6 OOS 5.1.7 arrives to fix bootloader bug, update not for India

OxygenOS 5.1.8 (sized 102MB) starts rolling out, fixes system stability issues and optimizes the call quality.

Users in Indian region can get hand on the OxygenOS 5.1.7 by downloading a VPN app and setting the location to either Canada or Germany.

After silently pulling the 5.1.6 update, in no time OnePlus has come up with the Oxygen OS 5.1.7, fixing the serious bootloader vulnerability glitch.

But there’s a caveat.

5.1.7 not for Indian users

OnePlus has confirmed the 5.1.6 update was only pulled for India region, after receiving reports related to stability issues being faced by users there.

We received some reports from users in India that they had experienced stability issues with Oxygen OS 5.1.6 update, we have paused the rollout of this OTA.

The company further confirmed the 5.1.7 update won’t be pushed out to Indian OnePlus 6 units.

The 5.1.7 update will not be released for India region, as we are still working on a fix based on the logs we have received from users who have reported these issues.

OxygenOS 5.1.8 coming next week

Sadly, OP6 users in India will not receive the latest 5.1.7 update. Rather, they will directly get the 5.1.8, which will be rolling out next week. The update will not only carry the features of 5.1.7, but also fix the device freezing/stability issues that the 5.1.6 update triggered for OnePlus 6 units in the Indian region.

We will be releasing 5.1.8 update next week which will include the fix & also contain all the features included in the 5.1.7 update.

Details of 5.1.7 update

Coming back to the currently rolling out OxygenOS 5.1.7 (sized 64MB), here’s what the change log states:

• Fixed schedule setting issue for Do Not Disturb(DND) mode
• Updated bootloader for system security enhancement
• General bug fixes and improvements

While it’s appeasing that the serious Bootloader vulnerability and Scheduled DND related issues have been taken care of in OxygenOS 5.1.7, OnePlus 6 users in India are currently out of luck as they will have to wait for OxygenOS 5.1.8, which is set to roll out next week.
