The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S was made official by the company last week. So far, it has only been available in China, with no word on which other markets will be getting the phone and when. However, that changes now as the company has confirmed at-least one market where the device won’t be available.
It’s India.
Yes. While the Mi Mix 2 was launched in India, it’s upgrade – Mi Mix 2S – will likely not. Here’s the exact statement from the company CEO Lei Jun.
Our team has limited bandwidth, so right now there are no plans to bring the Mi Mix 2S to India
The executive in fact revealed he wasn’t in favor of brining the Mi Mix 2 to India as well, but since Manu Kumar Jain (managing director of Xiaomi India) had contradictory views, the product did arrive. However, it didn’t prove to be a hit.
The Mi Mix 2Ss features wireless charging. In that context, the CEO said:
Next year, or the year after, on premium phones, we can introduce wireless charging in India as well
Xiaomi is all set to launch the Mi 6X in China this week. Now since the Mi 5X from last year arrived as Mi A1 in India, it’s highly likely that the Mi 6X will be launched as Mi A2 in India, something which should happen next month in May.
Speaking of the Mi 6X, a new leaked image showing the back side of the handset’s retail packaging reveals the phone is powered by Snapdragon 660 SoC (instead of Snapdragon 636 as was being rumored until now).
