In December, YouTube gained the rights to NFL and Super Bowl games. Through the NFL Sunday Ticket, one can enjoy watching the games that are not broadcast by other cable television networks in their local area.

At that time, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan had revealed some of the company’s 2023 plans and among them was that the platform would get multiview support or split screen feature, which excited many users.

The feature, also known as the ‘Mosaic Mode’, will make it possible for one to watch up to four live streams on a single screen at once. This will be done by dividing your TV screen into four quadrants.

However, it looks like the new feature might be limited to some programs, at least if a snippet from the latest letter from the CEO is anything to go by.

At the time of the announcement, it was assumed by many that multiview support would be available for all streams.

But the wording of ‘multiple games at once’ used by YouTube CEO in the latest announcement has made several users concerned.

Now, some YouTube TV users (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) are speculating that the multiview or split screen feature may be limited to Sunday Ticket games.

I know it’s not for everyone, but as someone that watches a lot of live sports on TV, I’m really looking forward to this feature. I’d even pay an extra few bucks a month to have it. It’s something that would make me go out and spend the money for a 4K TV if they can push four HDTV streams to a single 4K panel.

I was really hoping this would be live in time for March Madness, but I’m not holding my breath on that one.

As of now, we are not sure whether this will be an exclusive feature for NFL Sunday Ticket games or if Google plans to make it widely available across all YouTube TV channels.

We’ll be keeping an eye on this one for any official word from YouTube regarding this matter and update this article, so stay tuned.

Update 1 (March 15, 2023)

05:37 pm (IST): YouTube has announced that the multiview feature will be available as early access to YouTube TV members over the next few months.

And once it is available, members will see an option to watch up to four pre-selected streams at once in their ‘Top Picks for You’ section. For more info, head here.

02:57 pm (IST): Some users (1,2,3) are saying that Multiview is available to them and that they really enjoy it.
