YouTube remains the biggest online video streaming platform on the planet. As such, it offers a source of livelihood for many content creators across the globe.

In a bid to make it easier for content creators to keep track of their videos’ monetization status, YouTube has been constantly evolving the process of matching ads and video content.

Today, in a bid to further give content creators more granular control over the process of matching ads to the video content and the whole monetization process, YouTube is adding a ‘Checking’ icon to the YouTube Studio video page for content creators.

This new icon helps content creators better monitor the monetization status of their content before they are made public. YouTube also advises Content creators to wait until the automated Monetization system is done checking their content before they can make these videos public.

They can know when the monetization system is done evaluating the suitability of their content when the indicator changes to Green, Yellow or Red, indicating the various statuses of monetization.

That said, the process is set to be rather quick, taking a minimum of at least 20 minutes and not more than an hour. Wait until you see one of these indicators so as to maximize revenue from ads. As such, YouTube creators might want to upload their videos and set them to Unlisted, or Private.

Essentially, the Checking icon shows when the automated system is in the process of evaluating the content against the company’s advertiser-friendly policy guidelines.
