YouTube is the world’s most popular video site with loads of new content from millions of creators being uploaded to the Google-owned platform every single minute across the planet.
With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, YouTube has become even more important for many businesses out there as people turn to online content consumption on the daily.
Not long ago, the search giant unveiled a new tool dubbed YouTube Video Builder to ease the pain of creating videos for creatives with scaled-down resources or rather video-making tools.
The company is also expected to continue adding new tools to improve user experience, but while at it, one annoying bug must first be addressed. With only days since showing up, the YouTube “error saving video data” bug is already proving to be a pain in the neck of creatives.
Apparently, the settings of videos uploaded for some reason automatically change from public to private. Any attempt to edit the settings back to public returns an “error saving video data” message. This hasn’t happened before for affected users and only started a couple or so days ago.
How do I set my video to Public? Every video I upload sets itself to Private. When I try to go in and set it to public, it says “error saving video data”. This started today and hasn’t happened before. Anybody got any advice?

Going by the many reports in the Google support YouTube community, it seems this issue is affecting the mobile version of the app, be it on Android or iOS. While Google hasn’t responded, affected users are already looking for workarounds and so far, there seems to be one working magic.
Apparently, fixing the YouTube “error saving video data” bug is pretty simple. On your channel page, simply click the “Share” button on your video and you’ll be prompted to “Publish” the video. The video will then automatically become “Unlisted”.
Next is to go to your uploaded video and tap on “Edit”. You should be able to successfully change the setting to “Public” without getting the error message. Alternatively, someone else says you can simply upload your video in desktop mode as a workaround for this bug.
Whichever methods work for you now is fine, at least until Google comes up with an official solution.
