YouTube automatic subtitle translation not working issue being looked into, confirms support

YouTube is one of the most reliable platforms when it comes to watching viral content or long-lost music videos. The fact that it is regularly updated to enhance its features also adds value to users’ experience.

While YouTube content is widely accessible to users all around the globe, captions further facilitate an easier availability of the same.

But it becomes an issue when the captions/subtitles feature gets infused with bugs. For instance, we previously highlighted how YouTube captions started turning on automatically even when disabled.

We also saw how the auto Livestream captions feature was temporarily disabled by YouTube for some users.

A number of YouTube users (1,2,3,4,5,6) have now taken to Twitter to report an issue where the automatic subtitle translation feature is not working for them.

As the name of the feature suggests, it automatically translates subtitles into various languages. But it is quite absurd as it currently only works in English language.

It is undeniably causing a number of issues for non-English speakers like Swedish and Greeks. It is becoming quite frustrating for users as it is negatively impacting their experience.

Moreover, for people who sometimes listen to videos at low volume, the unavailability of captions in their preferred language becomes very cumbersome.

Official acknowledgment

Fortunately, YouTube is aware of the issue and said that the team is currently investigating it.
