Owned by Google, YouTube is among the most popular video-sharing and social media platforms in the world.
It has more than 2.5 billion monthly users, who watch more than a billion hours of videos every single day. Most of the content is user-generated, which also includes collaborations between influencers and sponsors.
But like any other platform, YouTube also suffers from occasional bugs and glitches that may affect user experiences.
YouTube missing 240p & 480p video quality options after uploading
According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), several creators are facing an issue with the videos uploaded on the platform. Reportedly, the 240p and 480p video quality options are missing while trying to playback the content.
Other video qualities such as 144p, 360p, 720p, and 1080p are getting processed and rendered like they normally would. Some assumed that the issue was on their end, but in reality, that was not the case.
Reportedly, the problem started about a few weeks ago. Some had even tried changing different settings on the app and platform as well but to no avail.
It’s been 2 weeks and every time I upload a video I find it missing 240p and 480p resolutions for an unknown reason! Does anyone have the same problem?! I need a fix please if anyone knows?

This started around December 1st because the videos I uploaded before that date had those resolutions available. I haven’t changed anything else: the videos have the same settings as the ones before

Some felt disappointed due to the recently introduced bug, as everyone may not have a high bandwidth network available to them at all times. This may end up creating hindrances for viewers.
Content creators may also face some difficulties in reaching out to their target audience.
Some users are facing other issues with YouTube as well. They are having some problems while paying for YouTube Premium. Rented movies also seem to be stuck in 480p quality.
Official acknowledgment
YouTube has officially acknowledged the issue and assured its users that they are working on fixing it. Although, it should be noted that an ETA has not been released for the time being.
That being said, we will keep an eye on the issue where the 240p and 480p video quality options are missing for creators after uploading content on YouTube and update this story as new information becomes available.
