Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro Galileo support was never there as marketed, Mi forum moderator confirms

The Redmi Note 9 series from Xiaomi has been facing a lot of criticism since it was released. The series offers the Redmi Note 9, Note 9 Pro, Note 9 Pro Max, and Note 9S. However, reports of multiple bugs and issues have been doing rounds for a while now.

We reported earlier how the OEM addressed some of the Redmi Note 9 series issues by stating that a future update will bring fixes. Among these issues were the WiFi and GPS bugs that are still persistent.

After the Global Redmi Note 9 Pro July update version v11.0.4.0.QJZMIXM started rolling out, another report came in where a Xiaomi community moderator stated that the WiFi and GPS issues are expected to be fixed in the MIUI 12 update.

But even before the MIUI 12 update arrives, it seems that the GPS issues may have led to another critical revelation related to Galileo, the European equivalent of GPS.

While Xiaomi has claimed before that the Redmi Note 9 Pro supports Galileo, a Mi forum moderator recently stated that the feature isn’t supported on the device. Here’s the complete message from the moderator:

Just checked with the team. They have been told by the devs that Galileo is not supported. But yes – it was advertised in the official website, like we had discussed in another thread. You may contact the customer service for further proceedings. Since this is a user-based community, we cannot do anything regarding refunds. You’ll get better response in this regard by the service team.

Also, the OEM has tweaked the Redmi Note 9 Pro specs page. It seems that Galileo support was never there for the Redmi Note 9 Pro and the software development team has also confirmed the same.

While the standard Redmi Note 9 variant supports Galileo, it is unclear why Xiaomi mentioned the same for other variants. So, it is only natural that users ask either for support or refunds when the OEM fails to deliver what was promised.
