Xiaomi’s Redmi 8 and Redmi Note 7 offer Android 9-based MIUI 11 out-of-the-box. While the OEM is still busy upgrading its devices to Android 10, the Redmi 8 and Redmi Note 7 have already bagged the OS update in many regions.

Xiaomi has already provided the Android 10 update for the Chinese, Global, Indian, and European Redmi Note 7 variants. Also, the Redmi 8 Global and Chinese variants have bagged the OS update. However, there are some variants of both devices that are still in line for Android 10.

Users of the European Redmi 8 and Russian Redmi Note 7 variants have been waiting for the OS update for some time. Now, it seems that the OEM is finally rolling out the Android 10 update to both devices.

While this update is based on MIUI 11, the Redmi 8 and Redmi Note 7 are expected to receive Xiaomi’s latest custom skin, MIUI 12. However, the Chinese and Indian Redmi Note 7 variants have already received the MIUI 12 update.

MIUI-12

Also, it must be noted that Xiaomi currently provides only one OS update to its Redmi series devices. This means that the Redmi 8 and Redmi Note 7 might not get another OS update. Hopefully, Xiaomi changes this pattern in the future.

Nevertheless, custom ROMs like LineageOS and more are also there to provide OS support to such devices. So, if you are into custom ROMs and also like to play around with your device, the unofficial Android 10-based LineageOS 17.1 ROM is available for Xiaomi Redmi 8.

Meanwhile, you can check out our Xiaomi Android 10 and MIUI 12 update trackers if your device is yet to bag the OS update along with the latest custom skin.
