Android is an Open-source platform because of which a huge aftermarket firmware ecosystem has developed. There are many custom ROMs available for numerous Android devices and each ROM has its own distinguishing features. Among them, is the Paranoid Android ROM.

Custom ROMs have opened many avenues for developers as well as users. One of the most beneficial aspect of these ROMs is that older devices get supported even after their official support period has ended.

Back in April, we reported that the Android 10-based Paranoid Android 10 Quartz 1 build was released for many devices including the Redmi 5, OnePlus 7 Pro, Essential Phone, etc.

The Quartz project then came up with Release 2 for more devices like the OnePlus 5/5T. After some time, the Paranoid Android 10 Quartz Release 3 provided support to the Poco F1, Redmi Note 5 Pro, and more.

The Android 10-based Quartz project from Paranoid Android has brought significant improvements to many devices. Now, the Quartz project is further extending its Release 4 support to Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Xiaomi Redmi 7 (aka Redmi Y3).

Xiaomi Redmi 7 recently received its official Android 10 update based on MIUI 11 and the device is also slated for the MIUI 12 update. However, the Redmi 5 already received its only promised update a long time ago. This means that the OEM will not provide any more OS updates to both devices.

Nevertheless, the Paranoid Android 10 Quartz Release 4 comes as good news for Xiaomi Redmi 7/Y3 and Xiaomi Redmi 5 users as they can now have more fun with their devices. So, if you own these devices and are also into custom ROMs then this one is definitely worth a shot.
