Xiaomi MIUI 12 pilot testing for Redmi Note 7/7S & other devices in India allegedly ends, hints at imminent rollout

Xiaomi has been rolling out MIUI 12 to eligible devices over the past few months and at this point, most eligible devices have been updated already. Check out our MIUI 12 tracker for more.

Even then, there are a few outlier devices that are yet to bag this update. These include the Redmi Note 8, Redmi Note 7 and a few others.

To recall, the Redmi Note 7 has already gotten an update to MIUI 12. However, that went only to the China variant of the device.

Users of the global and Indian variants have been subjected to long waits, updates being suspended, among many other twists and turns. We’ve taken a deep dive into all the intricacies surrounding this update and you can check out our coverage of the same here.

Good news though, we know that Xiaomi plans to wind up the rollout of MIUI 12 this month of October. In line with that, we’ve seen MIUI 12 for a few devices (1, 2) being slated for this month.

Redmi Note 7/7S users have waited enough and today, we get a new piece of info that goes to shine a ray of hope to these users.

A message posted in a MIUI 12 Forum on Telegram suggests that Xiaomi has completed the MIUI 12 pilot testing program for Redmi Note 7/7S.

This means that the development and testing of MIUI 12 for these two devices has ended and as such, the update should soon go to its next stage, which is a Stable beta release.

If true, this could mean that MIUI 12 for the Redmi Note 7 and Note 7S is almost ready for primetime and should be rolling out soon.

This could also go to legitimize the earlier reports about Xiaomi planning to wind up rolling out MIUI 12 to eligible devices by end of this month, much to the delight of eager users.
