Xiaomi’s MIUI 12 skin is arguably one of the most feature-packed skins on top of Android. It was first announced back in China and has since then begun rolling out to eligible devices. Being the company’s flagships, the Mi 10 series were one of the first devices to get the new skin from Xiaomi
More recently, devices such as the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3, Mi CC9, and the Poco F1 have picked up MIUI 12. However, not all eligible phones for MIUI 12 get all its new features. For example, the Super Wallpapers are only available on a handful of devices.
Although, we’ve created a guide for users to get Super Wallpapers running on any Xiaomi phone. Nevertheless, Xiaomi isn’t done bringing more new features to its new skin since it has now added new gestures and camera burst mode settings to MIUI 12.
These new features were introduced in the Closed Beta 20.8.24/20.8.25 ROM for users in China. The new camera bust options let users select the number of photos to be captured as well as the interval between each burst. The UI for the ‘Timed Burst’ option is very user friendly.
Further, there’s a new Gestures page that has been added to the Closed Beta ROM in China. At present, we cannot independently verify which gestures are new and which have been present previously. However, it’s safe to say that users can now get a lot of stuff done via gestures.
But those aren’t the only new features that users are getting. Apparently, the latest MIUI 12 beta 20.8.26 changelog/release notes suggest that the Mi 9 has picked up the new Device Control function. FYI, Device Control is a feature that was introduced with the Mi 10 Ultra as reported by XDA.

The Device Control feature is similar to what Microsoft offers with its Your Phone application. This means that users can share files between their phone and PC as well as mirror their phone’s screen on a connected PC. Of course, there are a few other things that you can do with the app.
Once again, these features are only available on the MIUI 12 Closed Beta ROM in China. Therefore, it will take a while before the new features are available to the general public. Thus, stay tuned to our dedicated MIUI 12 tracker to know everything about the rollout.
