Xiaomi last month unveiled the Mi 11 handset back at home in China. The device, according to the company, racked in a cool $600 million in sales after just three weeks on the shelves.

This is after parting ways with over a million Mi 11 units, but once again, these stats are only for the Chinese market. As far as the global market is concerned, well, the Mi 11 is coming soon.

As evident above, the specific date of the launch event remains elusive. But the teaser suggests the launch isn’t too far from now, perhaps in about a week or so.

Perhaps in line with this is the latest development that points to a MIUI 12.5 global launch on February 8, 2021. Apparently, Xiaomi has plans to unveil the new skin globally in about a week or so.

Now, there is no official communication that Xiaomi will unveil the global MIUI 12.5 update on February 8. However, we do know that the Mi 11 was unveiled in China on the same stage as MIUI 12.5.

Granted, it is possible that the global launch of both the Mi 11 and MIUI 12.5 update could happen on the same day.

With the former’s global availability confirmed bar the date, the latter’s leaked launch date could point to their collective global release. But we wait for official communication from Xiaomi.

Xiaomi has been testing MIUI 12.5 beta for a month now. The software, as expected, is available for select devices, including the Mi 11 and even the popular Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 7 series.

It gets even better for the Redmi Note 8 family, where Android 11 is also in the mix — making it the second major OS update for the devices.
