Xiaomi announced MIUI 12 way back in April and its development has been on ever since. Now, the latest custom skin is officially available for as many as 31 Xiaomi devices.
While reports of the next MIUI iteration i.e., MIUI 13, also surfaced, it seems that the OEM is planning to release an intermediate version before its next major custom skin.
The MIUI 12 beta update version 20.12.7 recently came out for Xiaomi’s beta program members in China with several improvements.
However, the release notes of the latest beta update revealed that Xiaomi is gearing up to release the MIUI 12.5 update.
Also, it is mentioned that the MIUI 12 beta program will be suspended temporarily from December 14, 2020 as the OEM will be focusing on MIUI 12.5.
In order to welcome the release of MIUI 12.5, the version will be suspended for a period of time starting next week on 12.14
Not much is known about the upcoming version of MIUI 12 but it seems that all features that recently appeared with the beta updates might be included in it.
This means that features like redesigned system UI elements, new Camera app UI, Power menu, fingerprint effects, notifications improvements, and much more might be on their way with MIUI 12.5.
Moreover, it might be possible that the OEM is planning to release the said MIUI 12 version as a preparatory update for MIUI 13.
Nevertheless, this is still based on our speculation as the OEM has not shared any details about the MIUI 12 version in question.
It is still good to see that the OEM is constantly working to improve its in-house custom skin so that users can enjoy the best possible experience.
That said, we will keep tracking this for further development and will provide more details once new information becomes available.
In the meantime, you can check out our MIUI 12 update tracker to get the latest updates on the topic.
