[Updated] Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G Android 10 (MIUI 12) update hopefuls receiving new MIUI 10-based security patch (Download link inside)

Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G was released back in 2019 with Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box. While the device offers some great specs like the Snapdragon 855 SoC, it still runs on the Android 9-based MIUI 10. Also, the OEM has dropped the Android 10 update plans for the Mi MIX 3 5G.

It must be noted that the standard Mi MIX 3 recently received the MIUI 12 update while the Android 10 update for the Global variants came out in March. Many Mi MIX 3 5G users signed a Change.org petition demanding the Android 10-based MIUI 11 update.

However, Xiaomi has confirmed that the Mi MIX 3 5G will not receive the Android 10 update. Also, it was reported that Xiaomi has no software plans for the Mi MIX 3 5G as per a Q&A which was a part of the standard Mi MIX 3 update announcement.

Back in May, we reported that the MIUI 12 update based on Android 9 Pie was expected to come out by September-end. This was later changed as the OEM provided another update schedule for the Mi MIX 3 5G according to which the MIUI 12 update is now expected to come out by October-end.

While all this must have taken a huge toll on Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G users, at least they will be getting the latest custom skin albeit on top of Android 9 Pie. Meanwhile, the July security update is now rolling out for the Mi MIX 3 5G.

The update is based on MIUI 10 and weighs 496MB in size. This means that it does not offer any new features and is just another security update. Nevertheless, users can grab the Global update via OTA but those who want to install it manually can download it from the link given below.

It is a shame that such a powerful device is not being looked after by the OEM while custom ROMs like Pixel Experience are already offering Android 10 support to it. This makes us wonder whether or not the Mi MIX 3 5G will even get the Android 11 update.
