[Updated] Xiaomi 'investigating' Poco F1 Widevine L1 issue, fixes known bugs

Team Poco has confirmed some important details related to Poco F1 bugs/issues and new features. The battery drain and touch issues have been fixed internally and will be available in next update. In addition, features like 960FPS slo-mo and Night mode are coming as well.

The company has also confirmed the 4K 60FPS recording feature is coming, and have asked for details from those facing PUBG issues. Catch the complete story here.

Update (September 06):

Xiaomi has confirmed multiple other POCO F1-related issues as well. Following is what all the Chinese company shared on current F1 problems:

Issues fixed: Inability to zoom on YouTube.

To be fixed with the upcoming update: Ok Google issue and PUBG mobile audio problem.

Issues being worked on: no battery percentage and app icons (on receiving notifications) displayed in status bar.

Under investigation: 4K 60fps support for rear camera, Widevine L1 HD compatibility issue.

Apart from this, the company also shared the network speed display in status bar has to be enabled manually.

This you can do by heading to Settings > notifications status bar > Show connection speed.

Also, the hide notch display UI glitch (as can be seen in the following tweet) will most likely be rectified soon.

It recently came to light that Xiaomi’s latest budget sensation – the Snapdragon 845-powered Poco F1 – doesn’t support Widevine L1.

For those who aren’t aware, Widevine L1 is required to play HD content on services like Netflix, Amazon Video, and Hulu.

Needless to say, this isn’t a small issue, given the popularity of these media streaming services.

Now, Poco’s head of product Jai Mani has given a word on the matter, saying they are investigating the problem.

Going by reports, a software fix for this problem is subject to certain conditions.

And the other way out is to physically send Poco F1 units to the company, which needless to say, isn’t a convenient solution.

Anyway, moving on, Mani also revealed some more news-worthy stuff.

Like, the bootloader unlock delay issue has been resolved, and users will be able to unlock their Poco F1’s bootloader by this weekend.

Moving on, the executive confirmed the device will indeed get the Android Pie update.

As for MIUI 10, it will arrive in around a month from now, meaning sometime in October.

Regarding the low audio issue, the executive said the fix is ready, and should be out in the next OTA update.

He, however, didn’t reveal when the update will arrive.
