The Xbox Series X is Microsoft’s answer to Sony’s PS5 and the debate between which one is the better console still rages on.

Both these next-gen consoles were incredibly hard to come across since they were almost never in stock anywhere when they were launched.

However, both companies appear to be setting the availability issues aside as many individuals have got their hands on their preferred console between the two.

While each console has its fair share of ups and downs, some Xbox Series X users have recently hit a major bump in the road after installing a new software update.

According to reports on Reddit and Twitter, it appears Xbox Series X users are no longer able to play games at 120fps since the 120Hz option is no longer available on their LG, Samsung, TCL, and other supported television sets.

The issue only popped up after users installed the latest Alpha Skip-Ahead update version that was recently released.

In the release notes for the latest Alpha Skip-Ahead update, Microsoft has indeed mentioned that they’ve received reports regarding the HDMI-CEC not working correctly.

It’s possible that the broken 120Hz support on the Xbox Series X is also related to the HDMI-CEC issues, however, we do not have the means to confirm the same.

That said, given the fact that the problem only appears to be affecting Xbox Series X users on the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring, it’s likely that it would be fixed soon.

Matter of fact, an Xbox Insider Staff member responded to complaints by stating that they’ll pass on the issue to the developers for investigation.

As usual, we will keep track of the situation and will post an update once any new details emerge regarding the missing 120Hz support on the Xbox Series X after the recent Alpha Skip-Ahead update.
