World of Warcraft recently received version 10.0.05 update which introduced bug fixes for some known issues and added new features.

For instance, it added the new Trading Post feature for trading your earned currency for cosmetic transmogs, pets, and mounts.

The patch also addressed an issue that caused the Archivists’ Codex faction achievements to award twice as many achievement points. However, the update also introduced some bugs to the game.

WoW ‘Elusive Creature Bait’ not working or bugged (cannot be placed)

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), some players have been unable to use the ‘Elusive Creature Bait’ after the recent update.

It is alleged that even though the item is present in a gamer’s inventory, one cannot place the bait on the ground to lure creatures.

A gamer complains that even though they can destroy, sell or create a new titan bait, they can’t use it or add it to a hotbar. Furthermore, they have tried using newly created ‘decay baits’ as well but with no success.

Another player on Reddit claims that none of their 3 skinners were able to utilize any of the baits they had. They further add that their Shaman was able to use an ordinary one before they earned the knowledge points of the week.

They’re bugged for me as well, just tried frost and decay, can be crafted but cannot be put on the ground.

Apparently, even repairing the game files does not help solve the problem. It is also worth mentioning that Blizzard has disabled the feature as of now.

Official acknowledgment

The Blizzard Entertainment support team on Twitter has officially acknowledged the issue. Although no official ETA for a bug fix has been provided.

So it looks like World of Warcraft players might have to wait a while.
