[Updated] Vivo X21s (V11/V11 Pro) Funtouch OS 10 update arrives sans Android 10

Vivo remains one of the biggest players in the Android ecosystem, coming in 6th in the number of units shipped in 2020. This means that the company is doing something right if it can manage to beat the likes of Motorola.

What better way to please your smartphone users than to treat them to frequent updates, both feature updates and security fixes. Well, Vivo has been doing well in that regard, and today, the company seeks to add one more feather to its cap.

Reports have it that Vivo is rolling out Funtoutch OS 10 to the Vivo X21s in China. This device is sold in many other markets under slightly different names. For instance, the same device is sold as the Vivo V11 in the Global market and as the Vivo V11 Pro in India.

This update brings many of the Funtouch OS 10 features including an updated Jovi personal assistant, a new lock screen charging animation, enhanced shortcuts, smart unlocking among many other features.

It is important to note that this Funtouch OS build is still based on Android 9. This even at a time when users of this device across many regions are eagerly awaiting an update to Android 10.

To recall, the Vivo X21s was included in the company’s Android 10 roadmap and as such, it is still eligible for an update to Android 10.

The Vivo X21s was launched back in 2018 with Android 8 Oreo. The device has since been updated to Android 9 Pie and the fact that it is slated to get updated to Android 10 means that this is probably the end of the road for it.

It is, therefore, no surprise that it is missing from Vivo’s list of Android 11 eligible devices.
