Buyers of the unlocked variants of Samsung smartphones are pretty used to the “coming soon” lollipop, as far as monthly updates are concerned. And that stands true for Samsung flagships as well. For example, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is now receiving the April patch, when we are already in May.
But, looking at the brighter side of the picture, just last month, the unlocked models of S8 and S8+ received a major update (which brought along Oreo), so in that context, getting another update in around a month is good. Isn’t it?
Coming to the latest update, the April security patch (dubbed CRD4) has gone live for US unlocked Galaxy S8/S8+ phones. The arrival of the same has been confirmed by multiple users across XDA as well as the company’s official US help forum.
As for the details, its a regular security improvement update (sized 209.6 MB), with version readings G955U1UEU3CRD4/G955U1OYM3CRD4 (as can be seen in the following screenshot shared by an S8+ user).
So if you have been waiting for the April monthly security update to land on your unlocked S8/S8+ (US), that may happen anytime now.
