US doctors and nurses dancing on TikTok amid COVID-19 pandemic triggers debate on social media

We can’t thank enough the physicians and healthcare staff for their selfless service when a calamity like a pandemic hits in. For months now, the healthcare staff – the doctors and the nurses – have been the first responders who are operating tirelessly, putting their own life at stake to serve the COVID-19 patients in the wake of this worldwide-epidemic.

While the medical workers work round the clock, we all can support them simply by staying at home and maintaining social distance along with other precautionary measures.

In the midst of this pandemic, by sharing dance videos on TikTok – which naturally ended up evoking a debate – US doctors and nurses found a way to keep their spirits up.

Many people admire the doctors’ efforts as there is no harm in sharing dance videos on TikTok if that’s what makes them feel a little better during such pressure hours.

Long hours of COVID-19 hospital monitoring may have a negative effect on the healthcare staff itself. And this TikTok competition (where these doctors and nurses can be seen dancing in the videos) may help them stay lighthearted and allow them to take some pressure off.

We all are trying to cope with the pandemic-triggered stress in our own ways, aren’t we?

Even the doctors and nurses are trying to uplift common man’s spirits by uploading such videos since there is still so much disappointment in the condition that we all are in. It goes without saying, we got to try our best to remain optimistic while battling this together.

However, not all are appreciating these videos as they feel it is only disrespectful. Many even feel that these doctors and nurses do not abide by the ethical Code. Here’s what some such users have to say:

I work for a large university hospital as an RN. We have plenty of covid patients. It overwhelmed in any way. And would never do a tik tok video. It’s just insensitive at this time.

We do realize that people have a right to hold an opinion and can feel differently.

But at the same time, for health professionals, their patients come first. So if something helps them boost the morale of those fighting the disease, as long as they are well in their rights and professional boundaries, the gesture can be appreciated.
