DirecTV Now recently announced a major update that brings several new features like DVR support. The update also includes a new interface that’s been immediately made available on the Web, iOS, and Apple TV, and will be coming to the service’s Android, Fire TV, and Roku apps in a few weeks.

While all that’s good, there are some changes the company didn’t announce publicly. And one of the major ones is that the first-gen Amazon Fire TV sticks are now incompatible. If you take a look at the compatible devices/software page on the service’s website, you’ll see it no longer mentions first-gen Fire TV.

That’s, of course, bad news. But there’s something good as well. A promo has been launched as part of which first-gen Fire TV users who are also DirecTV Now customers will get $25 credit for three months.

Apple TV users facing issues

Another news related to the new DirecTV Now update is that several Apple TV users who have installed the update are now facing issues while logging in. Most of them are getting the following message (screeshot courtesy Ice):

A significant number of such complaints can be seen on Twitter (1,2,3,4, 5, 6).

Some users said DirecTV Now support told them they are aware of some bugs plaguing the update, and are working to fix them. In fact, the service’s Twitter support has acknowledged Apple TV problems publicly:

But latest reports show the problem is yet to be fixed. It’s better the AT&T-owned service fixes the problem soon as things may get out of control after the update reaches majority of users.
