The Sony PlayStation 5 already supports 120Hz output with compatible TVs and a recent update even added support for the same to 1080p displays that have faster refresh rates, like some gaming monitors.

With the capacity for such high refresh rates, it is only expected that most game developers would add support for at least the bare minimum of 60 FPS on games.

Of course, most of the recently launched titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Fortnite, and Dirt 5 already run at the ultra-smooth 120 FPS.

However, several legacy games that were developed for the PlayStation 4 require further optimization and updates to exploit the full potential of PS5’s phenomenally improved hardware.

The Last of Us developers (Naughty Dog) have done a commendable job here with the performance patch 1.08 that was released yesterday for The Last of Us Part II.

The update added a new toggle in the game’s display options that allows players to select between the framerate targets of 60 FPS and 30 FPS.

Taking this as an example, Uncharted players on PS5 have now began demanding a similar update to refresh the now dated Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

After all, Uncharted 4 is now a 5 year old game released back in 2016. Going by the graphics standards of the time, the PlayStation 5 should be able to run the game like a breeze at even 120Hz.

Unfortunately, the games have been capped at a measly 30 FPS on the PS5, just like they were on its predecessor, which is why its players have been demanding support for at least 60 FPS.

Not only this, but the PS4 version of the game oddly did offer 60 FPS on the multiplayer mode albeit by taking a hit graphically (reduced resolution of 900p).

However, with the upgraded hardware on the PS5, Uncharted should easily be playable at 60 FPS even on the singleplayer mode. And as for the multiplayer mode, the graphics could be improved significantly.

But with no known plans currently for a Uncharted performance patch akin to The Last of Us Part II, a refreshed Uncharted with 60 FPS support on PS5 still only remains a dream.
