New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on November 7, 2022) follows:

It seems that Twitter is currently undergoing a massive revamp ever since Elon Musk’s takeover.

Within a limited number of days, there have already been several noteworthy developments including layoffs, content council, too many advertisements, and more.

And now, the recent talk in Twitter town is the company’s verification policy for the blue checkmarks.

Twitter Blue verification price

Twitter recently updated its iOS app to support Elon Musk’s $7.99 or $8 per month Twitter Blue.

It will include fewer ads, priority in replies mentions, and the ability to post longer videos than the current limit.

However, a number of reports suggest that the new Twitter Blue subscription is even available for $4.99/month despite Elon’s $8/month plan.

@elonmusk Why is my Twitter Blue saying it’s only $4.99? Did you give me a discount because I’m your number 1 fan?😂

I updated my iPhone app, and I still only see the $4.99 Twitter Blue, even though the app update description mentions the $8

This pricing scheme has confused many as users are still getting to see and even subscribe to the service for $4.99/month.

Moreover, the new paid verification badges also raise concerns about the probable misuse by people trying to impersonate celebrities and other important figures.

As a result, this ever-looming fear has even reportedly led to Twitter delaying the rollout of verification checkmarks until after the midterm elections.

But the uncertainty regarding the actual subscription price continues to prevail. We’ve added a screenshot of the unchanged Twitter Blue plan below:

Here’s what you need to know

The reason why Twitter hasn’t started charging $7.99 or $8 per month for the new paid plan is simply that some of the features haven’t rolled out yet.

According to a product lead at Twitter, the subscription charge will soon shift after the verification or Blue checkmark.

However, it’s still not clear when the verification through Twitter Blue will go live but it seems like it’s happening soon.

That said, we’ll keep tabs on further developments and update the article accordingly.
