New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on November 10, 2022) follows:
Elon Musk has been experimenting with Twitter since assuming control of the platform.
Twitter Blue is one such example, in which users pay a monthly membership fee to add a blue checkmark to their account as well as features such as Edit Tweet.
However, since then many users have faced issues like Twitter Blue ‘not available in your country’, while others wondered why it was priced at $4.99 per month instead of $7.99.
Twitter Blue subscribers unable to change user name
According to reports, many Twitter Blue subscribers are complaining that they are unable to change their user/display name (1,2,3,4,5,6,7).
Twitter Blue subscribers were left surprised when they tried to change their user/display name and got an error ‘Operation couldn’t be completed. TFS TwitterCore. HTTPRequestAction-ResponseError error 0’ message instead.
Another thing that sucks @eevblog is they disabled name changes for everyone that is a real verified user so I can’t even change my name back to “Barnacules Nerdgasm” so now someone could just create an account named “barnacules nerdgasm”, get $8 blue & outcompete me in search

I made the same mistake. Didn’t know you couldn’t change account name once you have Twitter blue. I want to delete “♥️♥️FOCUS♥️♥️” from my name. I have always changed it daily to correspond to the topic of the day. Please help @elonmusk

According to the official word, Twitter Blue subscribers will be unable to change their user/display name after getting a blue checkmark:
Twitter Blue subscribers will be unable to change their display name after receiving a blue checkmark. We will be implementing a new process soon for any display name changes.

Some speculate that the reason behind this could be to counter fake verified accounts of renowned organizations and influential personalities.
As a result, we can confirm that this is a planned move, and Twitter users will have to wait until the developers re-enable it in the future.
Unable to change profile picture (PFP)
Another issue that several users have been reporting is that they are unable to change their profile picture (PFP) or a banner on their profile (1,2,3).
There has been no official communication addressing the restrictions on edits to a user’s profile picture. Therefore, it’s unclear if this is intentional or not.
Twitter users who are affected must wait at least 30 days before losing all of the privileges and restrictions that come with a Twitter Blue subscription.
We will update this story as events unfold.
