Tower of God Episode 1: New visuals from 'Ball' and spoilers they reveal

The countdown to the very first episode of Crunchyroll’s original Tower of God is almost painful (especially if you are under lockdown like me thanks to coronavirus). Which is why fans are lapping up anything that the officials are dropping that remotely resembles fresh content.

That’s why when the official website shared a bunch of new images from the first episode and a sneak-peek into episode 1, we had to bring it to you.

The first episode is called Ball and story summary or preview leaves us with these lines in Japanese.

“The girl wanted to see the stars.
The boy wanted to be with her.
What do you want in exchange for everything?
Only those who have the power to survive will get it at the top of the tower.”

Along with this the makers have also released a bunch of cool new visuals from the anime. Apart from solo shots of key characters like Baam, Rachel, and Khun, etc, we also get to see some mid-action shots from the fantasy world of Tower of God. Earlier, the show also dropped the Japanese version of the theme song, ‘Shinno Flower’ by Kpop group Stray Kids. They are expected to release English and Korean version of the song as well.

Spoilers Ahead

The episode name ‘Ball’ is perhaps a reference to the ‘Ball Test’ that Baam is given in the very first chapter of the Webtoon.

If one is familiar with the best-selling original WEBTOON that this anime is based on, Baam is practically the central figure, and the story follows him on his various adventures as he struggles to the top of a climb this mysterious tower to find his friend Rachel.

The girl most likely refers to Rachel, and the boy is obviously Baam. The last two lines strike at the key conflict and central plot of the anime – the survival to reach the top of the Tower.

Does that mean the very first episode of the anime will reveal all of this to the viewers or is this cryptic writing reserved only for the Webtoon readers?

Above all, what new element will the animated adaptation add to keep the loyal fans of SIU’s Tower of God hooked to the show? We can’t wait to find out. Tower of God starts streaming across the globe from April 1.
