With great expectations, Amazon debuted the inaugural first regular season of Thursday Night Football games in September.

The company made history by becoming NFL’s first exclusive national streaming rights holder. Thursday Night Football (TNF) could pave the way for other deals in the future.

Bu it looks like they have hit their first hurdle as many subscribers have been troubled by the TNF viewing experience on Amazon Prime Video (1,2,3,4,5,6).

Considering that users pay money to see the game, it should work without any hiccups. However, that’s not the case as the stream keeps lagging or buffering for many of them.

Several users have resorted to Twitter to complain about the constant freezing throughout the Thursday Night Football (TNF) game stream, despite having a high-speed steady internet connection.

Pretty awesome to pay for @PrimeVideo just to watch the @NFL game tonight between the @Broncos & @Colts and the stream keeps freezing or stopping every few minutes. Pathetic and so is the game. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it!

Not only that, but many are having audio problems when watching the Thursday Night Football (TNF) game (1,2,3,4).

In some circumstances, the audio appears to be out of sync with the video while others claim the overall sound quality is very poor.

Amazon support suggested some troubleshooting methods like exiting and re-entering the game stream, changing the quality of the stream and turning off the Motion setting on your TV but nothing seems to work.

This is really frustrating and is infuriating many users since they are unable to watch the Thursday Night Football (TNF) game and now they demand a free subscription to Amazon Prime Video as compensation.

Hulu users also faced a similar issue with NBC Sunday Night Football broadcast. So, it seems that these online platforms just can’t match cable TV when it comes to the viewing experience of sports.

05:58 pm (IST): Some Amazon Prime users (1,2,3,4) are experiencing issues with the Thursday Night Football game again. They feel that the stream quality is quite choppy and poor.

09:18 am (IST): Multiple reports indicate that this week’s Thursday Night Football broadcast via Amazon Prime Video is still glitchy and full of issues.

05:55 am (IST): It appears that Amazon Prime Video hasn’t fixed the issues NFL fans have been facing for weeks now.

Multiple reports indicate that problems such as low quality streaming and frozen image during the Thursday Night Football broadcast are still present (1, 2).

The picture quality watching #ThursdayNightFootball on Amazon in 2022 is so, so much worse than watching football on public access tv in 1989.

09:00 am (IST): Amazon appears to be having a hard time fixing the streaming quality issues with TNF. Yet again, viewers have taken to Twitter to report (1, 2, 3) of issues with the picture quality and the closed captions not working.
