These steps may fix OOS 5.1.8 triggered battery drain on OnePus 6

The latest OxygenOS 5.1.8 update brought along serious battery drainage issue on OnePlus’ newest flagship device, leaving the installers of the update complaining. While there’s no news as to how long will the company take to fix up the mess, we have come across certain steps that might fix the battery issue on your OnePlus 6 unit.

Give it a try

Download using your phone the OOS 5.1.8 update file from the official OnePlus website.

Now move the downloaded file from the Downloads folder (in File Manager) to Storage>Internal Storage directory.

Enter the Recovery mode and ‘Wipe data and cache‘. The following video explains how to enter the recovery mode on your OnePlus 6 unit:

Reboot your phone.

Go to System updates under Settings.

Tap on the wheel icon in the right upper corner and select Local upgrade.

Now select the downloaded update file and let the update install (followed by the instructed reboot, as is usually done after installing a new update).

Once the update is installed, go to Recovery mode again and ‘Clear data and cache’ (following the steps explained in the video).

Note: After completing the installation, give the update a couple of charge cycles to stabilize.
