CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the most popular and acclaimed action RPGs of all time. It recently received a new next-gen update that offers several visual and technical improvements.
However, it seems that the update has partially broken the game due to its constant crashing.

That said, a number of The Witcher 3 players (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) have taken to Twitter to report severe crashing issues on PC and Steam Deck after the recent update.

Reports suggest that players are unable to launch or play the game owing to frequent crashes. It also starts crashing when they turn on Ray tracing in graphics settings.
Modifying or lowering the graphics settings also doesn’t help fix the issue. It rather keeps showing the following message.
Surprisingly, the game behaves erratically even for those who have powerful hardware. This also ends up popping the above-mentioned crash report for players.
No official response
The developers haven’t commented on the crashing issue yet. There is also no workaround that can help fix it temporarily. Players will have to wait indefinitely for the team to come up with a permanent resolution.

04:22 pm (IST): The Witcher 3 devs recommend players to update their GPU drivers to try to fix the crashing issue after the Next-gen update.
