Galaxy S10 Data Failure from Sprint
NOTICE: We’ve created an archive of all major developments related to the Samsung Galaxy S10 lineup. We are continuously updating that page with latest S10e/S10/S10+ news so that you don’t need to search for information related to the device on daily basis. Head here to access that page.
There are new updates that have been added to the bottom of the story…
Samsung Galaxy S10, S10+, and S10e users on Sprint network have been reporting serious network connectivity issues ever since the devices launched. Majority of the complaints have been regarding data OR LTE connectivity failure.
Following are some user complaints that should give you a better idea on the problems Sprint customers have been facing:
Galaxy S10 plus won’t stay connected to LTE. Text messages are also super slow to send. Are there any known fixes to these issues?
My galaxy s10 will not connect to sprint’s LTE network. It will connect to 3g which is super slow. Does anyone have a fix for this? I reached out to sprint tech support but they didn’t have a solution
I have noticed my s10 service is horrible. Even though I have lte and bars web pages will not load. The phone runs very slow. I do not have reception in areas that I had no issues with my s9 plus. A lot of times I need to restart my phone or turn airplane mode on and off several times to get it to work. But it doesn’t last long and it is back to not loading webpages or you tube
If you do a quick search on the Internet, you’ll find similar complaints from Sprint users spread across online forums as well as social networking platforms.

One user was even told by Sprint tech support that Samsung would be pushing out a new update to fix this problem:
But turns out the problem is at Sprint’s end. Someone from Sprint whose Reddit profile says they are “Verified Strategic Accounts Manager – Corporate” revealed this past weekend that their network operations team is investigating the problem.
I’ve seen a few threads in here regarding Data failures on the S10 devices. Network Ops is investigating and believe the issue lies in the provisioning. Fix ETR is not available, but I did want the people having issues know that the issue is acknowledged
While the Sprint employee couldn’t give an ETA for the fix, it’s good to see they have confirmed the problem is officially acknowledged. Another good thing is the Reddit user responded to queries from affected S10 users.
Here are some important information they revealed during the interaction:
This is a provisioning issue, it has nothing to do with your phone. In fact, there is always the chance you’d have the same issue if they could swap it in store tomorrow
Couldn’t say for sure where the error is occurring, but can say that it’s not every device affected
Qn. Are they working on this as a whole when it comes to the issue or is it a city by city or case by case thing.
Ans. As a whole.
When asked for a workaround or a temporary fix, the Sprint employee said they’re not aware of anything yet. However, we were able to dig out a workaround that many users confirmed has worked for them. It’s disabling band 41.
Found a way to disable Band 41. Enter Data Programming Mode: ##3282# Edit -> Enter MSL: 000000 -> OK -> LTE -> Band41 Enabled -> Deselect -> Reboot. So far seems to fix the issue, given the intermittent nature of problem, will report back with further testing
For the past four hours of testing the fix looks good. Compare to lost connection every 3 mins previously I would say the fix works for me. Disabling the Band 41 until Sprint/Samsung pushes the proper fix. My guess is that the code for switching band is messed up. When Band 25 has a much stronger signal and higher priority than 41, it obviously should not switch to Band 41 for no good reason
So there you go. Sprint has officially acknowledged the issue and some people have managed to fix it temporarily with a workaround. If you are affected, we encourage you to give this workaround a try, and let us know your experience in comments below.
Other Galaxy S10 issues
While this may seem to be a carrier specific problem, the Galaxy S10 series are plagued with multiple problems of their own. For example, just today, we highlighted how users are reporting about devices’ proximity sensor behaving erratic during phone calls.
Late last week, one of our investigations had also revealed some annoying Bluetooth issues that have been affecting music playback and connectivity with car headunits.
Then there have also been reports about the Edge lighting feature either not working or acting glitchy.

Update 1 (March 25)
The same Sprint employee whom we referred to earlier in this story recently revealed that a fix is likely arriving soon. Specifically, they said a new update will be pushed out on March 27.
As mentioned a MR is tentatively scheduled to be pushed out on the 27th. If after that MR is pushed and you’ve updated, if your device still does not have data connectivity, the resolution is exchanging the device. This information is as of yesterday, so who knows what has changed since then
As you can see in the statement above, if this update fails to fix the issue, then RMA would be the only option for affected users. Let’s hope the situation doesn’t come to that point.
Update 2 (March 26)
Samsung is currently rolling out a new OTA update (build number ends with ASC8) for Galaxy S10 series. Along with the March security patches, the new build brings new fixes to Wireless Powershare and camera stability.
The same update is likely to come on Sprint Galaxy S10 variant to fix the LTE connectivity issue. Details here.
Update 3 (March 26)
Sprint officially published a knowledge base article regarding the glitch in their community forums.
Solution
Please ensure basic device troubleshooting steps are completed including but not limited to PRL update, Profile Update, Software update, Power cycle, and factory data resets. If resolution is not found, then a ticket should be opened through customer care for further network investigation.
If the troubleshooting efforts result in the device reacquring LTE then it does not need to be exchanged.
Device exchanges and SIM swaps should only be considered after basic troubleshooting and ticket creation has been completed and LTE has not bee reacquired.
The issue will be resolved with an upcoming software release.
Update 4 (March 27)
The March update (ASC8) is reportedly rolling out for the Sprint branded Galaxy S10 models.
Do let us know whether the network issues are fixed after installing the new update or not.
Update 5 (March 29)
Sprint has officially admitted the LTE / data connection issue with Galaxy S10.
The carrier now suggests to opt for RMA if the latest ASC8 update can’t solve the bugs. For more details, give our article a read.
Update 6 (April 15)
Late last week Sprint confirmed a new update will be pushed out on April 16. This update is aimed at solving intermittent voice or data issues. Here’s the exact words from the carrier:
4/12/2019 UPDATE: As always, Sprint and Samsung continue to closely monitor concerns about intermittent or total loss of voice or data with the Samsung Galaxy S10, S10+, and S10e handsets. There will be a software release available on Tuesday, April 16th that will prevent the device from experiencing intermittent voice or data. Please update your device as soon as this release becomes available.
This notice has been posted here.
Update 7 (April 16)
As per previously announced schedule, Sprint is currently rolling out a new update for Samsung Galaxy S10+ to fix LTE issues. It also brings April 2019 security patches.
Update 8 (April 17)
Sprint rolled out a new OTA for Galaxy S10 to fix connection issues. However, users are still facing the same glitches, even after upgrading to the build.
Read this article for further details.
Update 9 (April 19)
Sprint has officially announced to replace the Galaxy S10 units having LTE/data connection issues.
Meanwhile they pulled back the Android Pie update Galaxy Note 8 for similar bugs. Details here.
