Spotify introduced the highly requested lyrics feature last year for users around the globe. It undoubtedly let many fans connect with the music and artists they love on a deeper level.

However, it showed certain glitches every now and then. For instance, we highlighted how lyrics on some songs weren’t loading on Spotify and a similar issue popped up on the iOS or Android apps as well.

Spotify lyrics missing on some songs

A number of Spotify users (1,2,3,4,5,6) are still reporting an issue where the platform is not showing or missing the lyrics of some songs.

Hey @Spotify Let me do the Lyrics for @Eminem music. I’ve been listening to his music since I was 6 years old and the amount of songs your missing lyrics to is just pathetic.

Musicmatch you need to get your finger out and sort out the lyrics for @Spotify app , missing lyrics and lyrics not synced… it’s quite annoying !!

It gives a ‘You caught us, we are still working on getting lyrics’ message for the songs whose lyrics were not time-synced before.

Despite the fact that lyrics can’t be found on some tracks, Spotify has long offered support for the feature. Granted, it’s possible that the parties involved (Spotify and Musixmatch) are delaying the process.

Not just that, Spotify sometimes shows out-of-sync lyrics (1,2,3,4,5). Normally, the lyrics scroll in sync with the audio, however in some instances there is no synchronization between the lyrics and the audio at all.

What’s the point of sharing lyrics if spotify still can’t even sync them with voice 🤨

I’ve never seen a song on spotify well synchronized with lyrics.

It’s making users question the platform on the need for lyrics if they can’t even sync them properly.

To make matters worse, the music streaming app is also displaying wrong lyrics (1,2,3,4,5,6) at times. It is sometimes entirely wrong from the original lyrics.

For reference, you can check out the two images attached below. Click or tap to enlarge them.

It seems that even though the lyrics are correct on Musixmatch (the lyrics provider) for some songs, it somehow shows incorrect lyrics on both the Spotify app and desktop version.

No official word

Unfortunately, Spotify hasn’t commented on the issue yet. There’s also no workaround that can help resolve this matter temporarily.

We’ll keep tabs on further developments and update this article as and when something noteworthy comes up.
