Spotify is one of the most renowned audio streaming services used around the world. The company recently introduced the new Smart Shuffle feature which gives customized recommendations that match one’s vibe.
When enabled, recommendations will be automatically added to your queue. For every three tracks in a playlist with more than 15 songs, a single track gets automatically recommended.
But to make room for Smart Shuffle, Spotify took away the ‘Enhanced’ button feature which would add songs to the playlist based on your listening preferences.
Spotify ‘Enhanced’ button removed and replaced with Smart Shuffle
According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), multiple users are not satisfied with the company’s decision of removing and replacing the ‘Enhanced’ feature with the newly introduced ‘Smart Shuffle’ feature.
The ‘Enhanced’ feature fans say that it was the best way to discover new songs or expand their playlists with ease. And as expected, the concerned users have taken to social media to express their frustration.
A Spotify user says that now they have to hit the shuffle button multiple times just to get music in the order they want.
This is understandably quite frustrating and annoying as it makes it difficult for one to enjoy listening to the tracks they like.

This actually got rid of two of the features I came back to spotify for, enhanced playlists and seeing my likes within the playlist.

People hate the new Smart Shuffle feature
Some users (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9) also hate the newly introduced ‘Smart Shuffle’ feature as their user experience with the platform has got effected.
It is alleged that everytime when one just simply wants to shuffle music on Spotify, the ‘Smart Shuffle’ feature will get activated and add random music to the queue.
A user on Twitter complains that they are unable to permanently disable the newly introduced feature as it keeps on turning on automatically, time and again.
Only thing i dislike about spotify is the “smart shuffle” bs they do but aside from that i’ve never rlly had any problems with it.

Is it possible to get rid of the smart shuffle on spotify? 🙁 it keeps freezing my spotify when i have no wifi and i’m trying to listen to music.

Some have even questioned the need of introducing such “useless” feature updates on the platform.
It’s quite a possibility that the company reverts back to the old feature, as was the case previously when the ‘Enhance’ feature was removed 2 years ago.
We do hope that Spotify listens to the users’ demands.
That said, we’ll keep tabs on the issues where Spotify ‘Enhanced’ button was removed and replaced with the newly introduced ‘Smart Shuffle’, and update the article accordingly.

06:30 pm (IST): It seems that some users find the new Plus button more useful when adding a song to multiple playlists.
To be fair the new + is more efficient if you want to add a song to more than 1 playlist. I made a few at a time last summer and this would’ve been really nice

05:16 pm (IST): According to a redditor, installing an older version of Spotify could help you keep the ‘Enhanced’ button. However, this will not help you when UI changes are made on server-side.
